This slide show was created by Doug Dorling, Senior Aquatic Biologist consultant for the OSFWC. The slides provide some awesome aerial photos of our waterways, examples of several of the invasive weeds we are trying to control and information on the herbicides used.

Wine and Weeds 2016
The Ocean Shores Fresh Waterways Corporation held its first “Wine and Weeds” event on April 23 at the Ocean Shores Inn & Suites. The invite was open to all Ocean Shores residents, friends, and neighbors, and based on the number of attendees (50+), the event was a success!
Bruce Malloy chaired the informal evening get-together beginning with Fresh Waterways member introductions and summarizing what he hoped to accomplish during the evening. He then opened up the floor to questions, and many discussions followed on a variety of topics. Some of these included the need for developing short and long term waterways plans, what can be done regarding weed removal on camping or vacant lots, fundraising, noxious vs. native weeds, dock address signs, tree removal and replacement, as well as leveraging our working relationship with the City of Ocean Shores, the City Council, and the mayor (thanks for attending, Mayor Dingler!).
Additionally, Bruce demonstrated how the weed rakes (free for your use with a $50 deposit) are best utilized. Videos and much printed information and materials were also available. The wine and snacks provided also seemed to be rather popular.
This will be an ongoing event, schedule to be determined. Thanks to everyone who attended for your support and participation – looking forward to our next event!
